LIVING NOW

As we are living in a time of stress and anxiety we feel acute concern about future. We wish to control and shape our future. That is a distinctive feature which distinguish us from the other living creatures. Our experience in the past gives us the only light on our future. But it has some limits.

“Our appointment with life is the present moment. The place of our appointment is right here, in this very place”.
The Buddha.
We have to live fully in the present moment, neither immobilised bythe past in the form of regrets, resentments and anger nor preoccupied with the future, with anxieties and worries. When you are rooted in the present, you begin to see all the beauty and marvels of life. We do not destroy the present by the regrets of past and hopes of future.
These lines of an anonymous author are very interesting.
“I shut the door on yesterday
and threw the key away.
Tomorrow has no fears for me
Since I have found today.”
To live our life fully we must learn to live now.
