Stay young!

Since evolution manwanted to remain young.Indeed being youthful is a state of mind.To remain healthy and youthful, one does not start at the age of fifty.Caring for the body and mind should begin even before our twenties.I am happy to share the following points.
How can one stay young? -MAXWELL MALTZ.
.Thoughts on continued youth;
.Stay young by thinking young:
.Youth is an emotional attitude.
Senility bypasses those who refuse to retire from life
The young at heart demand more from life than timid souls resigned to deterioration.
As long as a person pursues adventure, he will stay young.
Good humor and good will know no age.
A sweet thought is as inspiring at 89 as it is at 19.
To feel alive at any age is heaven on earth.
You are neither young nor old,but a human being.
Enthusiasm is youth and boredom is senility,no matter what your age.

Food Habits

Food is an important source of energy to our body. The most important of any food is its fuel value. The exact nutritional need of the human body is:
Glucose -88% to 90%
Protein -4 to5%
Minerals-3 to4%
Vitamins- 1%
Fat - 1%
The Fruit is the perfect food on earth.
Food must be easily digestible and assimilable. If food takes long to digest we are wasting energy. It takes two hours to digest food when consuming one cereal.when we mix two (i.e)rice &wheat,It takes 5 hours to digest.
Aerated drinks, milk and milk products, junk foods contain toxic residues. Our body functions on optimum efficiency only when it is slightly alkaline in metabolic end products.Milk &milk products leave an acidic residue as they hit the stomach.Citric fruits such as orange or mosambi leaves an alkaline residue.
Only fresh fruits, vegetables, nuts and seeds(in sprouted form) have the highest possible nutritional value.
Refined sugar, milk &milk products, animal products, tinned, bottled and packaged foods and refined oil are foodless foods(i.e)contain zero nutrients and take too long to digest.

Seasonal Variations.

Knowledge regarding changes in our digestive power with the variating seasons has been well understood in our society. When Agni outside is strong (in summer) the agni inside us(digestive power)is weak and vice-versa.This is reflected in a way in our food customs at various seasons.
For Ramanavami ,which comes during the summer months, the prasadam is very light and easily digestable. The prasadam for Krishna jayanthi &Deepavali which come during winter is varied and comprise of food atricles which are rich in calorie and heavy to digest.
The effect of various seasons on our health has also been noted. It is a custom to eat neem flower and leaves during spring season and tulsi(basil) leaves are given as prasadam during winter seasons .

Music therapy.

Music has the power of healing. Music that is primarily rhythmic affects the physical body; Melodious music deals with the emotions; and the harmonics of music relates to spiritual energy. Listening to certain music can cure some illness or expedite the recovery. We use music to relax and meditate .

I wish to share wonderful news from a magazine. Reciting Soundarya Lahary can cure mental illness and Lalitha Navarathna krithies can cure blood cancer. Morning ragaas like Boopaalam and malayamaarutham cure morning illness. For digestion Sree raagam and for insomnia listen to Neelaambari. Raaga Bairavi can cure T.B, Cancer, fever, blood pressure and diabetes.

Human nature.

Let us have your comments on this topic:

We read about bomb blasts throughout the world almost daily. But its impact lasts on us only for a few hours. Why?
Are we slowly becoming immune to our surroundings?
Are we self centered?

Readers please share your views with us.

Topic 2:
Why do women crave for recognition?
Is it that they are not at all recognized at home?
Or is it they want to satisfy their self esteem?
Or that they want to achieve something?

Avoidance of anger

"When anger comes, think of the consequences,it

will soon subside".-Confucius.
Anger creates an unpleasant situation, and it

harms the body and mind of the angry person. It also

affects his work efficiency.
But anger should never be suppressed,as it may

lead to skin trouble or some health problems.By

doing some excercise or walking one can change the

mood.
Lord Buddha always admonished his desciples and

followers to restrain from getting angry. He adviced

them to see good in everything.
Once Lord Buddha was taking his desciples to a

village,which was notorious for its

ill-tempered,arrogant people.He told his desciples

to remain cheerful even if they do not welcome them

thinking that they have not abused them.
Good emotions make us well, and bad emotions

make us ill.God gives us what we need, but it

remains for us to learn to use these gifts.

Flush out of your mind the bad emotions:anger ,fear and

hate, with sincere prayer and meditation;and you

can develop defenite feelings of health and

vitality.

The Prayer power.

“More Things are wrought by prayer than this world dreams of.”-Tennyson
The human beings are like thought magnets. In other words whatever thoughts we think, we tend to attract similar thoughts to us. So if we think negative thoughts, we are encouraging the universe to send negative thoughts our way. But if we think positively, we attract positive energy.
Words saturated with sincerity, conviction, faith and intuition are like highly explosive vibration bombs, which when set off, shatter the rocks of difficulties and create the change desired. Avoid speaking unpleasant words, even if true. Sincere words of affirmations repeated understandingly, feelingly, and willingly are sure to move the Omnipresent Cosmic Vibratory Force to render aid in your difficulty. Appeal to that Power with infinite confidence, casting out all doubt: otherwise the arrow of your attention will be deflected from its mark.
After you have sown in the soil of Cosmic Consciousness your vibratory prayer -seed do not pluck it out frequently to see whether or not it has germinated. Give the divine forces a chance to work uninterruptedly. And The Lord helps those who help themselves.

On Marriage!

"The real act of marriage takes place in the heart, not in the ballroom or church or synagogue. It's a choice you make -- not just on your wedding day, but over and over again -- and that choice is reflected in the way you treat your husband or wife."
-- Barbara De Angelis

"Marriage is that relation between man and woman in which the independence is equal, the dependence mutual, and the obligation reciprocal."
-- Louis K. Anspacher

"To marry a man out of pity is folly; and, if you think you are going to influence the kind of fellow who has ''never had a chance, poor devil,'' you are profoundly mistaken. One can only influence the strong characters in life, not the weak; and it is the height of vanity to suppose that you can make an honest man of anyone."
-- Margot Asquith

"Like everything which is not the involuntary result of fleeting emotion but the creation of time and will, any marriage, happy or unhappy, is infinitely more interesting than any romance, however passionate."
-- W. H. Auden

"Happiness in marriage is entirely a matter of chance."
-- Jane Austen

"Wives are young men's mistresses; companions for middle age, and old men's nurses."
-- Francis Bacon
"In marriage there are no manners to keep up, and beneath the wildest accusations no real criticism. Each is familiar with that ancient child in the other who may erupt again. We are not ridiculous to ourselves. We are ageless. That is the luxury of the wedding ring."
-- Enid Bagnold

"A woman must be a genius to create a good husband."
-- Honore De Balzac

"It is easier to be a lover than a husband for the simple reason that it is more difficult to be witty every day than to say pretty things from time to time."
-- Honore De Balzac
"Marriage is our last, best chance to grow up."
-- Joseph Barth

For a good sleep!

All activities are governed by breathing. The siddhas or supreme masters of Yoga applied the breathing techniques for every ailment. One of the techniques is Thooka or sleeping pranayamam. It is far superior to sleeping drugs which produce drug dependency and addiction.
Before going to sleep inhale slowly for 2 seconds and exhale for 1 second.Never hold the breath. You have to breathe as if you are in sound sleep.Enjoy your sleep with sweet dreams through this Pranayamam.
Never practice this technique while driving or suffering from sleeping sickness.

Breathing Technique

Pranayamam is defined in the science of Yoga
as the scientific art of mastering the breath. The Pranayamam which is used to cleanse the lower respiratory tract is Purna suthi Pranayamam.
There are are two lobes of the lungs in the left lower quadrant and three lobes in the right lower quadrat. There are millions of alveoli or air sacs in the lungs.12500 alveoli makes one inch! All these can be cleansed by this kriya.
Technique: Sit eract comfortably, the head, neck and spine in a straight line. The shoulders should be limp and loose like a coat in a coat hanger.Keep one hand over the other in Sarpa Mudrai.
Take in a deep breath through both the nostrils using all the muscles.Forcibly breathe out through the mouth.
Greater the force ,greater the cleansing power.Purse the lips and use the teeth to produce thin long jet of air.
Caution: Do not breathe on children or others;they will get the infection.
The no: of kriyas is dependent upon the phlegm accumulated in the alveoli. It is one of the best methods of cleansing the lower respiratory system comparable to the sophesticated mechanized methods of draining the lungs in modern medicine

Vethathiri Maharishi’s view on “Respecting Womanhood.”

Realizing the greatness of womanhood is of inestimable importance in one’s life. About half the world’s population is comprised of women and the other half by men. Furthermore, the half who are males are all children of the other half! It is obvious that every male gets his life from a woman; it is primarily woman’s blood that circulates inside him.
Every human being has been conceived in a female womb, has been nourished by a woman, and has been able to lead his life every moment through the supportive companionship of woman. If analyzed in proper perspective, women can not be viewed as less than, greater than, or even equal to males. The providential compassion of Nature has placed women in a special position. An individual or a society that does not give due regard and respect to the greatness of womanhood can never attain peace and prosperity.

Eye Care.

The world is full of screens of various sorts.Television screens, computer screens, various types of display screens and illuminated and non-illuminated displays. There is concern about the effects these have on the eyes.Television is as safe to the eyes as the refregirator is to the stomach. But Television should not be viewed for long from too close a distance.
The thumb rule seems to be seated at least six times the screen size away(e.g 20 inch TV;20* 6=120 inches or 10 feet away from the screen is a safe distance.)
Avoid periodic washing of the eyes. This will not only wash away the tear film but may introduce infections from the contaminated water.

Fatty facts

A healthy man's body should have about 12 to 18% fat.In women, this range is 14 to 20%.Body fats has its benefits. It stores energy and steadies body temperature. When you eat more than you need for the energy you expend ,your body stores the surplus as fat.
Cellulite is nothing but plain fat.It looks dimpled because of the strands of fibrous tissue fill with fat just below the skin on the thighs.Health proffessionals claim that 99% of women develop at least some dimply fat after they are 30 because their skin loses its elasticity and firmness due to collagen loss and lack of muscle tone.A twice weekly massage, together with weight loss and smart eating is likely to crack the toughest of fat pockets.
